Development Grant

We serve together in the field of non-profit organizations in a spirit of helping others to improve the quality of life for individuals and families that are experiencing economic and social stress in their daily lives. ECCDI offers a grant program to other nonprofit organizations completing this objective; see our Community Partnership Grant Program (CPGP) for more information.

East Carolina Community Development Inc. now offers a small grant pool for nonprofit organizations seeking to help build the capacity of the applicant to plan, fund and implement community-based programs and projects that address the social issues in ECCDI’s Mission and Principles. Approval of Community Partnership Grant Program (CPGP) proposals is at the sole discretion of ECCDI and is contingent upon the availability of funds.

Community Partnership Grant award recipients include: 

2013

United Way of Onslow County       $1,500

East Carolina Community Development Inc.- Beaufort NC

Another CPGP Grant was awarded on January 31st to the United Way of Onslow County, the funds will be used in support of their CAN-DO (Community Advisory Network -Developing Onslow) Solutions for Stability Coordinator position, which is a United Way initiative representing a community-wide partnership to identify and assess the needs in Onslow County, primarily those focused around homelessness.

2012

Broad Street Clinic       $1,500

East Carolina Community Development Inc.- Beaufort NCOn December 5th, ECCDI presented a check for $1,500 to the Broad Street Clinic Foundation in Morehead City. The clinic applied to ECCDI for these monies through ECCDI’s Community Partnership Grant Program (CPGP).

The Clinic will match the CPGP grant with plans to purchase 60 blood pressure monitors to be distributed to low-income individuals to maintain a healthier lifestyle through blood pressure monitoring.

The Clinic is a private, non-profit, free health clinic serving the uninsured, low-income adult residents of Carteret County and surrounding areas. Learn more about the Broad Street Clinic Foundation at the above link.

 

A Brush With Kindness - Crystal Coast Habitat for Humanity       $1,500

East Carolina Community Development Inc.- Beaufort NC
ECCDI’s Community Partnership Grant Program awarded a grant to Crystal Coast Habitat for Humanity to establish a rehab maintenance program called A Brush with Kindness program for low-income homeowners in eastern NC.  A Brush with Kindness is a national “exterior home preservation service (utilizing local volunteer labor and donated materials) that offers painting, landscaping, water stripping and minor repair services for homeowners in need.  It also ensures that families live in safe and well-maintained homes…as well as, revitalizing the appearance of the neighborhood, encouraging connections with in the community and most importantly, helping preserve the affordable housing stock” (www.habitat.org, 2012).

 

Promise Place      $1,500

East Carolina Community Development Inc.- Beaufort NC
ECCDI presented a check for $1,500 from their Community Partnership Grant Program to Promise Place in New Bern -- a 24/7/365 Crisis Support center serving Craven, Jones, and Pamlico counties. With this grant, Promise Place will purchase materials needed to enhance the sensory recovery of trauma victims of rape or sexual assault, and provide education and consultation to other service providers in their service area.

Boys and Girls Club of Coastal Carolina      $1,500

East Carolina Community Development Inc.- Beaufort NC
A grant for $1,500 was awarded to the Boys and Girls Club of Coastal Carolina to implement a national Boys and Girls Club of America program called Junior Staff. The Junior Staff program was developed to train a qualified, competent and committed workforce by preparing them for job readiness and providing leadership skills to enter the workforce successfully.


 

Communities in Schools      $1,500

East Carolina Community Development Inc.- Beaufort NC
With this grant award, Communities in Schools of Carteret County will support a summer reading program in two local elementary schools for at-risk students. The reading program will provide remediation activities for up to 20 students. The summer reading programs in the past have shown great success in reducing dropout rates for participants.
